Slavery to Freedom - An American Odyssey February 7, 2008 - February 28, 2008
An Annual Visiting Faculty Lecture Series. The intent of the MSU Visiting Faculty Lecture Series is to provide opportunities for interaction with multicultural scholars from education, business, industry and government who spend time on a visiting-appointment basis at Michigan State University. The MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine is extremely pleased to host these notable scholars who, in addition to making the presentations advertised here, also dedicate time to teaching MSU students on campus.

Whether researching global human health issues, managing international companies or circling the globe – literally – Michigan State University’s three December commencement speakers are proof that access to education means access to the world and beyond.

Pioneer biologist Ian Wilmut focuses on developing new treatments for human diseases; Peter Löscher brings years of domestic and foreign experience in various pharmaceutical and medical companies to Siemens AG, where he is president and chief executive officer; and Winston E. Scott, former NASA astronaut aboard the Endeavour and Columbia shuttles, is vice president and deputy general manager of Jacobs Engineering, one of the largest engineering contractors in the world.
